Geometric in Properties and Relationships

The children are able to examine models of geometric figures identify properties and relationships. They form generalisations about the relationships of geometric figures to one another

The major objectives of teaching geometry in the primary grades are to enable pupils :
  • To identify various geometric figures from physical models, including the square, rectangle, circle, triangle, cube, cylinder. pyramid, cone, and sphere.
  • To recognise certain properties of shapes from physical models and drawing, with some attention  to type of regions, edges, angles, sides, and so on.
  • To sort, compare, measure, and draw various geometric plane figures.
At the elementary school  level, pupils are informally taught concepts and general notions about geometric figures, without formal definitions and proof.
